  5.     We at Buffalo Creek Software would like to take this opportunity
  6. to thank you for your support and promotion of SPITFIRE.

  8.     Buffalo Creek Software is very proud to announce the release of
  9. SPITFIRE v3.51.  As a licensed SPITFIRE Sysop, if you wish to upgrade
  10. to SPITFIRE v3.51 using the download/upgrade option, you will need to
  11. download the SPITFIRE upgrade form, SFUPGRAD.351.  Complete this
  12. form and return it to Buffalo Creek Software.  Upon receipt of your
  13. completed form, Buffalo Creek Software will prepare your personalized
  14. SF351SN upgrade package and make it available to you for download 
  15. from Buffalo Creek's BBS.  Then, simply follow the steps described 
  16. below to convert the shareware copy of SPITFIRE v3.51 to your licensed
  17. copy.

  20. START *** CONVERTING SHAREWARE SPITFIRE v3.51 TO A LICENSED COPY
  21. ---------------------------------------------------------------

  23.     First, copy the shareware SPITFIRE.EXE, SPITFIRE.OVR, SPITFIRE.HLP
  24. and the SF351SN package (SF351SN package is provided by Buffalo Creek
  25. Software to licensed SPITFIRE Sysop who have selected the SPITFIRE v3.51
  26. download/upgrade option) files into your SPITFIRE home directory.
  27. Then execute <serial number>.BAT.  You should see the below example
  28. appear on your monitor:

  38.     This converts the shareware copy of SPITFIRE v3.51 into your licensed
  39. copy of SPITFIRE v3.51.

  44.   In the event you are upgrading to SPITFIRE v3.51 from SPITFIRE v3.5,
  45. then please follow the directions listed below.
  46.  
  47.     Begin by placing SF35_351.EXE in each SPITFIRE HOME directory per 
  48. node and executing it.  After running it in each of the SPITFIRE Home 
  49. directories it should be erased from the drive(s).  Messages will appear 
  50. on the screen as SF35_351 works to update the necessary files to SPITFIRE 
  51. v3.51 format.  This will allow you to follow the conversion process.  To 
  52. better understand what is taking place during the conversion, the 
  53. required updates SF35_351 performs during the conversion process are 
  54. listed below:
  55.  
  56.        1) Reads information from the old SFNODE.DAT file and              
  57.        creates a new SFNODE.DAT compatible with SPITFIRE v3.51.
  58.  
  59.        2) Reads information from the old SFSYSTEM.DAT file and
  60.        creates a new SFSYSTEM.DAT compatible with SPITFIRE v3.51.
  61.  
  62.        3) Adds "S,<S>.. Specific Caller Messages,,10,S" to the
  63.        SFMSG.MNU file.
  64.  
  65.        4) Alters SFSYSOP.MNU file by removing the "List Comments" 
  66.        option and by adding the "Sysop Menu Extension" option.
  67.  
  68.        *** NOTE ***  If the BBS uses display files for the Message Menu,  
  69.        the MSG<x>.BBS/CLR/RIP display screens will also need to be        
  70.        modified by the Sysop to correctly reflect the Message Menu options.

  72.        If the BBS uses display files for the Sysop Menu, the
  73.        SOP<x>.BBS/CLR/RIP display screens will also need to be        
  74.        modified by the Sysop to correctly reflect the Sysop Menu options.
  75.  
  76.     Once SF35_351 has finished the conversion process, you will need to
  77. erase the SF35_351 conversion utility.

  79.     The above steps are REQUIRED to convert from SFv3.5 to SFv3.51!!
